Onawa, Iowa is located 25 minutes south of Sioux City, Iowa, and 50 minutes north of Omaha, Nebraska on Interstate 29. Onawa is an exciting residential and industrial community. Onawa is participating in the regional development of the I-29 corridor, while retaining the highly valued traditions of a small, family-oriented community. 

Onawa has a rich and colorful history, from the Lewis & Clark Expedition to the origins of Eskimo Pies. It has an active community calendar, which includes the Monona County Fair, the Annual Swap Meet, Graffiti Night and ONABIKE. It offers a variety of recreational opportunities including the picturesque Loess Hills, the Gramm Conservation Area and Lewis & Clark State Park. Onawa's thriving community includes, the ever expanding Burgess Health Center, the West Monona Community School System and Casino Omaha.
